About Me
Welcome to
“Things in life I find annoying”
I’ve always wanted to write a blog about little things that annoy me and one day I finally did.
This blog is an outlet for me to say some of the things that I have wanted to say for a long time but would never dare say to some people’s faces. But first you need to understand where I’m coming from.
About Me
In 1980 I was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease, after a year of having to listen to people say it was all in my head. How could losing 25 pounds in one year be all in my head when I was eating like there was no tomorrow?
In 1994 after being sick for 8 months with other health problems I was finally admitted to hospital and underwent surgery. Yep, it was all in my head!
In 1996 I started developing sensitivities to perfumes and chemicals and had my first bout of pneumonia, followed by a couple more that winter season. The sensitivities got worse but the doctors were no help. Finally in 2003 I was diagnosed with Reactive Airways and shortly after that COPD. Now having one disease that people don’t understand is terrible enough, add the other two and the things people say start to annoy me. Hence the blog about “Things in life I find annoying“.
What’s It All About
I’ve already written about some of the things that annoy me but there is more to come that I haven’t even touched on yet.
But somewhere along the line, that hasn’t become the only focus of my blog. Joining the WordPress Challenge and writing my posts on annoying things, also turned into tips for new bloggers, from me – a new blogger myself.
Before I knew it, I had another focus and now my blog also includes tips on blogging which readers find helpful. I’m trying to work the two together and it’s been interesting so far.
I’m looking forward to the challenge and would love to hear from you on how I’m doing.

I love your “About Me” page Rose, you did it really well and we all get to know you a bit more! Living with Crohn’s Disease is bad enough, but to develop COPD as well must put a lot of stress on you. My hubby has had COPD for years.
You are doing a great job with the WordPress Challenge, your posts are interesting and funny, and I look forward to reading them daily. You have been an inspiration to me to start my own blog as you know, and with your help I am on the way!
I’ve noticed the little blogging tips easing into your blog, and this is great too, because you are helping other people do what they love to do.
Let your blog take you naturally where it wants to go – sometimes they have a mind of their own!
Thank you so much Barb. I’ve lived with Crohn’s and COPD for so long they are a part of me and who I’ve become. Having to deal with the challenges gives a person a different outlook on life. I am really enjoying this and am so happy that you’ve decided to get more involved with your blog. I really think you will enjoy it and we need a Pet Blog for the buddies to read.
Wow, great job. I always have difficulty deciding what it is that people need to know about me.
Thanks Gina, So did I, that’s why I followed the outline that Christopher has on CreativeBlogger. If you haven’t already read it you should check it out.
Thankyou for sharing this, it’s great to get an insight into someone, I now understand where you are coming from. I like your blogs and I like the way you format everything, it’s comfortable reading. You’ve made me realise I don’t post enough pictures and my endless text must be a little boring on the eyes. Anyhow, you’ve been a great support to me in developing my blogging techniques etc and I always enjoy reading your posts.
I like to focus on the positives though, each day I write a private list of everything I’m grateful for, would you ever consider doing a ‘Things In Life That Make Me Happy’ too? I’d like to know what makes you smile as well… just a thought.
Thank you so much and for the wonderful idea. That will definitely be an ‘or not’ posting coming up soon. My first blogs that no one has ever seen weren’t anything like this. It comes with time spent reading, learning and being observant of what others are doing.
I enjoy reading you About Me page. I have no problem with reading about your health. It gives me an idea for another page that I will think about. I, myself, live with Marfan Syndrome, a litle know disease of the body’s connective tissues. The tissues that hold everything together. There is no cure for it, but it is not necessary fatal as long as I take my “meds”. I didn’t include that in my About Me. Now I wonder if I should or just make a special page. I will give that some thought. But again, your page is well done.
Bob
Hi Bob, I’ve never heard of Marfan Syndrome. Will have to do some reading on that. Sometimes mentioning a disease helps you connect with others who may be living with it too! Thanks.
Hi Rose/Bob,
I think it is a great idea to add a page giving more details of the conditions you are dealing with as it helps others to understand where you are coming from, as well as raising awareness of the condition. Like Rose, I’ve never heard of Marfan Syndrome and will now go and look it up.
I also live with a condition – called Dystonia. Again, this is a little known subject and I would also like to raise awareness in the hope that a cure will be found for it someday. I am going to consider adding a page, so please let me know if you do the same.
Rose – thank you so much for all you are doing for the blogging community. As a new blogger, how have you learnt so much so quickly?
You are an inspiration x
Juls, I have been on the Internet and reading for years. I have several unpublished blogs that I’ve dabbled with. I learn a lot from reading and observing what others are doing and what I like. I don’t watch instructional videos. Scanning a page for good content is so much easier.
Well all your research and reading is certainly benefitting us all – thank you for sharing your knowledge with us.
I love the way you explain things so clearly and give such easy to follow instructions. Perhaps you could consider putting it all together and writing a simple, no-nonsense guide for technophobes like me!
I used to write training manuals for my staff on how to use computers back in the 80′s and 90′s. You’ve given me something to think about. Thanks Juls
Perhaps you could do it in 2 stages:-
Stage 1 – Basic How to set up a blog that works (with all the gizmos, basic Seo, networking etc) accompanied by your lovely clear instructions of ‘how to do it’. This could be saved into a PDF file which you could send out to people who subscribe to your blog.
Stage 2 – Moving on Up! – how to move your blog to the next level. More advanced stuff that people will be ready for once they’ve mastered the inital stages. You could perhaps offer this for a reasonable price that I am sure a lot of people would be more than willing to pay – particularly after you’ve got them hooked on the delights of blogging in the early stages!!!
Anyway, it’s food for thought xxx
It turned out marvelous darling!! Very nice work….
And I love the background you have too!!!
Thanks! The background is a photo that my daughter took several years ago.
Your blog looks great. Everything looks so ordered, Makes me want to spend more time on my blog
Great job!!!
Thanks Sunil. Go for it when you’ve got some time. All the time I’ve spent reading about blogs and websites is finally paying off for me. I still have more to learn but then I like learning new things.
Hello Classyrose – You “liked” one of the posts on my blog (http://namibsands.wordpress.com), and WordPress sent me the link to your blog, so I thought I’d take a look at who you are and what you write about. Good luck with your post-a-day challenge! Happy writing!
Thanks Reggie. I’m enjoying both the Challenge and the writing.
I stumbled across your blog from the Daily Post, PostADay challenge and I have to say I’m really enjoying it! I myself have a section on my blog with a selection of gripes: 10 Things That P*** Me Off, although I have counterbalanced that with 10 Things I Love About…
I enjoyed your piece on the Random Blog idea and am following it through by visiting blogs outside of my comfort zone, nice idea to widen what I read and take on board different views etc. Keep it up!
Hi and welcome to my blog. Thanks for joining the challenge and I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying it. I hope you don’t mind if I suggest something. When your comment came through it didn’t list the URL for your blog so when you leave a comment people can’t click on your name and reach your blog.
Please read Bloggers With No Links and update your profile and user settings in WordPress with your URL. Hopefully you will get more visitors.
Thanks again for joining.
Thanks for the info! I was so sure I had already done this but I do remember having a few probs with my Gravatar when I first set it up. Hopefully it should be sorted out now, again thanks for pointing that out!
You’re welcome.
Your URL is now listed in the email I received and clicking on your name took me to your blog. You’re all set.
