or not – Challenges of a New Day
I am ready and comfortable to meet the challenges of a new day. There is nothing bugging me today.
Each day brings a new challenge and you either face it or run from it.
There is no sense in running and hiding from it because it will be there ready to raise its ugly head again until you deal with it.
Unless you face certain things they will begin to tear you apart.
I choose to face the challenges and learn from them.
From Life Success Zone.
I am thrilled with the set of challenges each day brings. Challenges are the unexpected plunges in the rollercoaster of life.
Even when I don’t know what lies ahead, I am sure that I can make the most of the ride. Each challenge I complete successfully pushes fear further away from my mind.
I love the feeling of achievement. A great accomplishment is a natural high. Yet, triumph only comes after a battle is fought and won. Therefore, challenge must exist if I want to enjoy sweet victory.
This battle is over and I won.
I am comfortable because I know that the tools to overcome any trial are within me. I am comfortable because I know that there is nothing on my plate that I cannot handle. I feel privileged to have been chosen for each challenge that I face.
- How do you react to challenge?
- How do challenges make you a better person?
- What can you learn from your performance in yesterday’s challenges that will help you today?
There is nothing bugging me today!

or not – RandomBlog2011 Challenge Day 6
There are two days left in the RandomBlog2011 Challenge. There is nothing bugging me today!
I’ve been on a roller coaster ride this week and it’s been thrilling. I’ve learned not to be afraid of trying new things and to move forward with my ideas. This challenge was one idea I had considered and I’m glad I took the chance. Now it’s time for me to review my other ideas and projects that have sat on the back burner far too long.
It’s been suggested that the Challenge continue but in a modified way. I’m considering the options and will report back to everyone in a Wrap Up Report.
Saturdays are usually a day when I post Housekeeping but instead I’m going to list two things that I think all bloggers should be aware of to really be a part of the online community and have other bloggers visit their blogs.
When the WordPress Challenge started I would visit The Daily Post to read the comments to see if I could find some blogs to visit. I found some interesting comments but I couldn’t get to their blogs because they weren’t linked up. By that I mean, that neither their name nor their Gravatar had a link to their blog. Well I found that annoying so I decided to write a post PostADay2011 – Bloggers With No Links.
1.
So I ask, Are you linked up?
- Can people click on your name and get to your blog?
- Has your blog URL been added to your Gravatar?
If the answer is no, then please read PostADay2011 – Bloggers With No Links. You will find easy instructions on how to link up.
2.
Many of you might have seen my post the other day where my blogging buddy Piglet in Portugal commented “Crikey Rose, you’ve liked a lot of posts!” When I leave a comment I also click the Like button and there is a reason for it.
Reading the comments I also noticed that the bloggers were practically crying out for someone to please read their blog. Because of all these comments I wrote PostADay2011 Bloggers – Click the Like Button Please.
On my blog I give you three ways to let me know you’ve read the post and for me to find out how you feel about it.
- If you Rate a blog posting the blogger doesn’t get notified of who did the rating
- If you Like a blog posting the blogger receives your information and might come visit
- If you Comment on a blog posting the blogger will often come visit and check your blog
The chances of them coming to visit my blog are far greater when I click the Like button and leave a Comment.
Now, if you want other bloggers to visit and read your blog and maybe leave a comment, which option would you choose?
Blogs I’ve Visited
My regular Housekeeping Saturday post might be coming up later today. I haven’t decided yet and might just skip it this week. I just did mine, did you remember to back up your blog?
There is nothing bugging me today!

or not – Update on RandomBlog2011 Challenge
The response I’ve had to the RandomBlog2011 Challenge has been fantastic. There is nothing bugging me today!
When I first thought of the RandomBlog2011 Challenge I wasn’t sure if I could make it work but I decided I would never know if I didn’t at least try. With the ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ I’m receiving I’m glad I decided to try and I’m looking forward to the rest of the week.
The challenge is open to everyone and not just new bloggers. The challenge is to show some love to new bloggers by seeking them out and reading their blogs.
What is a new blogger?
Please use your own judgement but I would consider any blog that is less than 1-year old as new.
How do you find the new blogs?
There is no easy way to find them. Some of the things I look for:
- I check their Archives to see how far back they go.
- Read their About page.
- A lot of them usually end up writing a post on trying to get people to read their blogs.
- Limited content on the blog.
I tend to spot them fairly quickly by the blog’s appearance. Once you know what you’re looking for it’s not that difficult.
How do you find them? Do you have any tips to share?
I have a feeling that following a “comment trail” is going to prove to be quite popular and we could all be visiting the same blogs. Can I suggest that if you choose to do this that you’re careful about doing it on blogs that already have plenty of comments.
Don’t forget, when you leave comments ask them to join the RandomBlog2011 Challenge. It might encourage them to check it out, join in the fun and get more visitors to their own blog.
Thank you to every one of my readers who are spreading the word through their own blog postings, Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon and other social media platforms.
Don’t forget to tag your posts – RandomBlog2011

or not – Random Acts of Kindness Week
February 14 – 20, 2011 is Random Acts of Kindness Week. There is nothing bugging me today!
The mission, for those bold enough to accept it: Do one act of kindness every day during Random Acts of Kindness Week.
The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation will suggest a new kind action every day to their members and online community fans. You can learn more on how you can take part by reading their Press Release or by visiting their website or Facebook.
About The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation
Established in 2000, The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation has a mission of inspiring people to practice kindness and to pass it on to others. RAK’s goals are to inspire, empower, act and share to build the kindness community. To that end, RAK provides free educational and community ideas, guidance and other resources, and allows everyone to share their kindness ideas and actions through its website at www.randomactsofkindness.org. The Foundation celebrates World Kindness Week and sponsors Random Acts of Kindness Week the second full week in February. RAK is on Twitter (@RAKFoundation), Facebook and YouTube.
What acts of kindness can you perform this week?
It’s time to give a shout out to some of the blogging community here on WordPress. First I would like to welcome all the new visitors and subscribers to my blog.
The other day I read a story about how important making eye contact is when talking to people and this is so true. The eyes tell you what words can’t. He performed a true act of kindness.
I also took part in my first blog hop organized by EOF737 – Mirth & Motivation. Thank you for putting that together it was fun!
And just because I want to, I can’t forget my first blogging buddy, Piglet in Portugal. She went to market and saw a cute little piggy this week.
Yesterday I said I had something special planned for the coming week and I got the idea from Random Acts of Kindness Week.
While some of us have received a bump in our stats there are still other new bloggers out there who have yet to see it. Comments I’ve read in the daily posts suggest they don’t know how to get new readers to their blogs.
I’m sending out a challenge to all those participating in the PostADay2011 and PostAWeek2011 challenge.
I’m encouraging bloggers in the WordPress Challenge to commit to reading at least 2 new blog posts everyday at a blog they have never visited before.
Anyone wanting to participate in this challenge will tag their posts with RandomBlog2011. You will be able to find blogs taking part in the RandomBlog2011 Challenge using this tag the same way you are currently reading the PostADay2011 and PostAWeek2011 blogs.
I will be adding comments to the Daily Post inviting anyone who wants to participate to tag their posts RandomBlog2011. Each participant is asked to read and comment on 2 random blogs every day for the week.
I have no idea how many will decide to take part in the challenge but I’ve had this on my mind since I noticed the special week for Random Acts of Kindness and I just had to give it a try.
How many random blogs will you read this week?
Make sure you visit the special page I’ve set up for the RandomBlog2011 Challenge.
Please share this page to get the word. ![]()

There is nothing bugging me today!
How could there be when the topic of the day is to talk about bravery.
Brave has several definitions. You can talk about a brave soldier or a senior being brave enough to learn how to blog for the first time.
What is the bravest thing?
There are two I want to write about. The first is the challenge that so many have taken up to write a postaday2011 or a postaweek2011. Reading through the posts, there were many who were apprehensive and not sure if they could do it. But they are showing they are brave by showing no fear of what could be a difficult task.
Some have freely admitted in their posts that it would be hard for them, but they are hoping that with tips and encouragement from everyone they will be able to follow through on their commitment.
- Quite nervous, but let’s do this
- Like I said, I want to participate, but I’m terrified of failure.
Any attempt in improving oneself can be a challenge and they’ve accepted it and this could be the bravest thing they’ve done in a long time and they should be recognized for it.
And we can’t forget about our troops! I’m talking about all of them, not just from Canada and the U.S., but also Australia, Great Britain, and all the other NATO forces in Afghanistan and around the world.
Send a word of encouragement to your troops. Let them know you care and are thinking of them.

or not – That’s what I want to be remembered for!
I had a really good rant set up for today, but it all slowly changed yesterday. First there was today’s topic which I could work with. Slowly throughout the afternoon things kept building to the point that I could not sit and write an annoying post when I was feeling on top of the world.
For anyone who hasn’t been reading my blog, I have always tried to live my life by the Golden Rule – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
I have always given of myself only asking for a smile and kind word in return.
All I have ever wanted is to help those that I can. No special recognition, just a smile and a thanks. Because in the bigger picture, I hope that they will remember what I did for them and in turn, do the same for another.
I’ve received plenty of thanks from of all my readers and they all put a smile on my face. Thank you to everyone.
Yesterday I received so much praise it feels odd writing about it.
The day started with a Carlaat, a fairly new reader to the blog, left a comment and called it the page of the Post A Day fairy godmother.
A fellow blogger, Lonediamond, paid me the highest compliment I could ever hear from someone – she said you are making a good mentor
Lonediamond, you don’t know how much that means to me. I’m humbled.
My English Thought, then called this blog, her Godmother’s Blog. I’m humbled even more.
And if that wasn’t enough, to top off my day, along came Papa Joe with not one, but two compliments.
You really are classy Rose. I admire your ethics.
Thanks for being a person of character.
That’s what I want to be remembered for!

or not – maybe? How will PostADay2011 play out?
When I started this blog it had a different purpose, but joining the WordPress PostADay2011 Challenge and meeting some great fellow bloggers, I’m not sure if I can keep it on the same track. I don’t want to write about annoying things everyday. This is what’s bugging me today!
That’s the reason I have the “or not” posts. I had to add something to the title of the post otherwise people would think I found it annoying. Now I think it confuses them and they come to see what it’s all about.
But I don’t want to talk about what’s bugging me today.
What I want to do is share, what I think is some good information with my fellow bloggers in the postaday2011/postaweek2011 challenge. It’s been sitting in my Google Reader since the day this challenge started and I finally had a chance to read some of it today.
It’s a Best of 2010 list and there are 21 postings on it. I checked some of them out and the posting themselves have links to other postings with good information so I thought I would post it for everyone.
I especially wanted to share it with one of my readers, My English Thoughts, who is blogging in English daily when French is her first language. Now here is someone who has really taken on the challenge!
Here is one posting from the list I do want to share with you today.

It’s Sunday, Day 9 of the Challenge and time for another “or not” posting. Some may feel discouraged or overwhelmed and I thought these words can give them the strength to keep going. I came across this years ago, have always kept it handy and wanted to share it with you today.
The Optimist Creed written by Christian Larson, adopted by Optimist International in 1922.
The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best, and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.
Please visit Optimist International to see the wonderful work they do with children.
