Not Having Enough Time

Things in life I find annoyingThere isn’t enough time in the day to do everything I want and need to do. This is what’s bugging me today!

I woke up early this morning from a very long sleep (9 hours), it was only supposed to be a short nap. I guess my body needed it, but I have so much to do. Like so many others this past month, this blog has taken over my life.

Never in a million years did I think I would enjoy writing so much and have so many of you come by and want to read it. I’m trying to deal with all this and don’t want to disappoint that I’m spending far too much time on this blog and not enough on everyday tasks and chores that need to get done.

Oh, I’m going to continue my daily blogging because I’m enjoying it too much to stop now! I just need to get a grip and begin using some of my time management skills again and prioritize my tasks.

I used to be organized with daily and weekly to-do lists, but somewhere along the line I stopped keeping my lists and that’s when things got out of hand. I’m not saying I’m old, but I guess some forgetfulness comes with age along with not being able to keep a normal sleep schedule.

I am thrilled with the set of challenges each day brings.

Challenges are the unexpected plunges in the rollercoaster of life.

Life Success Zone

My blog postings have been getting later and later and I need to put a stop to that.

I am using Reminderfox for blogging tasks but I need to write my lists of everything else I need to do. Only then can I start to manage my time better. I just might have to start some of my blog Housekeeping a little early.

This is my challenge for today. What challenges are you facing today?

This is what’s bugging me today!

🙂

Quote for today

I know what you are feeling. I am a high school senior, so have 6 hours of school, then 5 hours of Advanced classes and basketball practice everyday. Its a wonder I find time to even come online, but somehow by sacrificing sleep I have to balance school, family , fun and blogging.

It’s easier when you have set times like scheduled classes. When your time is your own, it’s easy to get too wrapped up in one thing. 🙂

    Hello sweetheart.

What can I say other than I know exactly how you are feeling!

I am very torn between doing what I’ve discovered I love – the writing. And with spending the time required to nuture our budding friendships and to continue offering support to our little group (which is getting bigger by the week!)

I want to do it all…and I am drowning the process!!!

After spending another 8 hours last night writing my blog, connecting with others, reading peoples blogs, leaving and following up comments etc, I eventually got to bed at 4.30am this and consequently overslept forcing me to make a mad dash for a business meeting…not a good start to the day!

I’m juggling as much as I can, but there is a limit to how far I can stretch the day. I’ve always been very organised (anal at times), but this is getting a little overwhelming.

I’d love to just spend my whole time writing, but at the moment, this wouldn’t pay the bills and I also need to focus on building my new business if it is ever going to get off the ground.

So what with dealing with web and logo designers, creating a brand, attending business and network meetings, trying to fit in time for yoga and something resembling a social life…it is all too much. Something has to give – but what???

I’m so glad you raised this as I know I’ve shared my feelings on this subject a few times. I love what we are doing here…and want to continue to enjoy the journey and our friendships.

I really don’t have the answers, despite everyone’s best intentions to encourage us to stay on track. I wrote a post a while back called ‘The Power of One’ and I may revisit this idea to see if this will work. (One hour to create – one quote -one image – one personal comment – one reason to celebrate…and hopefully for my dear readers…only one minute to read!!!!!).

Okay, so now I’ve turned my comment into a blog! It feels good to get it off my chest though.

Thanks Rose…I feel better now I’ve had a rant! Please let us know when you’ve got it sussed!

Ps. I had a quick look at Firefox…will check out more details (when I get the time!)

    • February 2, 2011 at 12:33 PM

Hi Juls, it’s really tough but I’m determined to do it somehow, someway. I think some of it is all the excitement and things will settle down soon. And about your rant, as the tagline to my blog says.

My little place to blow off some steam and let my friends do the same

    • February 2, 2011 at 12:47 PM

      Hi Julie,

I know exactly what you mean! I love my blogging buddies and reading all their posts because I know how much time and effort has gone in to them. It’s good to make time for people and your comment in itself WAS a blog post.

Blogging like alcohol is addictive! The more you post and interact with others the more you need to do! Even now as I write this Mr Piglet is asking how long before we have dinner? 😉 Not long I reply, but in truth I’ve not even started as yet!

OK Rose, sorry I am going to have to take a raincheck and respond properly to your post later, …see what I mean? If I feed Mr P, he will be happy and I will have more blogging time!

      • February 2, 2011 at 12:50 PM

Take your time PiP, I understand. Go feed Mr P and keep him happy. We’ll connect later I’m sure. 😉

Hi, that´s is one of the good or bad things to be a human being. Always busy, always in quest for the meaning of life and all that. Keep sending us your complains, I love your ideas.

Thanks Edson from Brazil. A big hello from cold wintry Canada. 🙂

    My challenge(s) for today?
Well…it’s the Chinese New Year for all Chinese scattered around the world, and as tradition goes usually Chinese people have shark-fin soup as one of the menu for New Year’s Eve dinners. And being an animal lover — and a modern day young adult, I find it very disturbing that my mother decided to have that on the menu tonight. I told her of my disapproval, and she said “But it’s tradition, you dont have to have it if you dont want it, but it’s tradition.”
I feel weak. How do I overcome tradition? [sending question into the void]

    • February 2, 2011 at 12:38 PM

You can’t and shouldn’t want to overcome tradition. So many traditions have been lost over the years that we should try and preserve as many as we can or they will be lost forever. Happy New Year!! 🙂

Rose, I used to be organized to the point of anal also. Not anymore. My doc told me that the pre-menopause hormone imbalance reeks havoc on your memory and attention span. At times my husband finds it amusing, but he can’t wait until it’s all over! I can’t either.

    • February 2, 2011 at 12:41 PM

Hi Seashell, I had lists for everything but I stopped at some point and desperately need to start with them again. There is just so much to do right now that I’m not sure where to start. That’s one of the first things I need to figure out. I might have to mind map this one! 🙂

    • February 2, 2011 at 2:04 PM

      LOL:)

      • February 2, 2011 at 2:07 PM

Did you feed Mr. P already? That was quick! 😉

Major challenge facing me today was going to the dentist. I am such a whimp!
Blogging challenges – keeping up with all my blogging buddies and comments. Rose just keep plodding along…

    • February 4, 2011 at 6:50 PM

Hi Pip, hope you made the dentist smile. 🙂 I better do more than just plod along after losing the Internet for two days. 🙂

  7. February 2, 2011 at 6:07 PM

I think we all wish there were more hours in a day to get everything done that we need to do, but we have to make do with what we have; I find organization is the key – and lists! I am lost without my list of “Things to do Today”. Ticking off each item gives me a great sense of achievement, ready to start the next task. It’s anal I know, but it works for me!
The thing that’s bugging me today is having to clear up the yard after the cyclone we had last night (trees and branches down, debris everywhere, etc.) It is going to interfere with my organized day! But it’s a one-off and sometimes we have to expect that things won’t run smoothly every day!

    • February 4, 2011 at 6:52 PM

Hi Barb, so nice to hear you’re okay. I was worried about you when I heard about the cyclone. Such a terrible thing to happen to you after the floods you endured. Just like I never imagined losing the Internet. 🙂

  8. February 2, 2011 at 9:56 PM

I couldn’t agree more about the day being too short. I obsess with time and the passage of it. I’m glad you had a long night of sleep though. I’m so disconnected some times that I end up staying up the whole night. I guess one benefit is getting all my writing and blogging done then.

    • February 4, 2011 at 6:54 PM

Hi Jose, you need to get some sleep every night, but I’ve had times when I’ve stayed up all night. That’s when I usually take a long nap during the day. 🙂

  9. February 3, 2011 at 1:11 AM

My major challenges today were to spend time working out my budget for the month, getting some bills paid, and then getting some goal-setting sheets done for an early conference call I have later this week. Sometimes I wish I had more hours in the day and would like to think I would use them for sleeping and activities for me, but most likely I would still consume them with blog related things, or work things or wasting more time on the computer, or housework.

    • February 4, 2011 at 6:58 PM

Hi Stacey, I think that’s a wish we all have at one time or another. I think you will like my next post. 🙂

      Losing the Internet

  10. February 3, 2011 at 7:29 AM

Hello there Rose….I know what you mean…am also finding it hard to visit all the people I WANT to visit.
Hopefully, by the weekend I will be back to my old self and have a bit of energy.

    • February 4, 2011 at 6:59 PM

Hi Granny, sad to hear you’re still not feeling too good. Things have to get better soon. 🙂

  11. February 4, 2011 at 3:10 AM

It’s true. There’s never enough time. I have to do so many things in a day – spend time on the phone with my hubby, work, blog, the laundry, visit other blogs, hang out with friends. But I find that one minute it’s morning, and the next minute, the sun is about to set! It’s frustrating! But I’m glad to know I’m not alone, and almost everyone else feels this way.

  12. February 4, 2011 at 1:22 PM

    Hi Rose,

Where are you? A day without Rose is like a day without sunshine! Have you lost internet connection are you sick? We miss you… 😦

    • February 4, 2011 at 3:45 PM

      Hi Rose,

PIP and I may have to send out a search party if we don’t hear from you soon!

Please let us know you are okay. As PIP says…we miss you loads xxx:-(

      • February 4, 2011 at 7:03 PM

Hi Juls, no need to send out a search party, I found my way back. I missed all my buddies too! 🙂

    • February 4, 2011 at 7:02 PM

Hi Pip, thanks so much for your concern. Lost the Internet but I’m back now in full force. 🙂
