or not – RandomBlog2011 Challenge Day 2 – Tips
I really am enjoying all this. There is still nothing bugging me today! 🙂
I guess Scott Berkun at The Daily Post at WordPress.com really did like my topic suggestions. They decided to use one of them for today.
Challenge: Conduct an interview for your blog
I don’t know about the rest of you, but I like reading the comments on the blogs I visit including the follow-ups after my visit. Many have commented that your email inbox is getting so full that you can’t keep up.
Here are 3 tips which could make life easier for you and won’t fill up your inbox.
1.
Instead of subscribing to comments by email, subscribe to the RSS Comment feed. Once subscribed, you can use your reader to read the comments when you have the time. If and when you are no longer interested in that feed it’s easy to unsubscribe.
The only RSS reader I use is Google Reader and there is an option to search your RSS feeds. To see if they’ve replied to your comment you can search just one feed or all of them for your name. The most recent is always at the top.
I would imagine that most readers have similar options. There are other options available but I’m trying to make this a short post this afternoon.
While this solution may not be the best it might make it a little easier and keep your inbox from overflowing with comments.
2.
You should also take advantage of the filters that are available in most email programs. Create a new folder for email coming from WordPress.com and once the filter is set up and applied they go directly to that folder and it keeps your main inbox clear for your other more important email.
3.
If you always click the “Like” button and leave a comment you can check them at the main WordPress.com Freshly Pressed page as long as you are signed in. It’s the fourth tab of the six listed – Posts I Like.
Now I said I would list the blogs that I’ve visited in my next post so here they are. There may be one or two missing because I left comments and never received a replied and I didn’t make a note of the blog I visited.
Blogs I’ve Visited
There is nothing bugging me today!

Quote for today
Let a series of happy thoughts run through your mind. They will show on your face.

Thanks for your tips ! I don’t know why but I always forget to use the RSS feed !!
I really shoud try this 🙂
Hi Isabelle, I’ve found it really helpful, especially on the blogs that end up with plenty of comments and replies. 🙂
Ok I have another stupid question…
When I want to follow you with Rss feed, it can only record the option in Firefox but not in my IGoogle page. How can I do to see your Rss Feed in Igoogle ? 🙂
Yes I know, I’m pretty terrible with Rss Feed. 🙂
Hi Isabelle, I’m not familiar with iGoogle so I can’t help you there but there are several places on my blog where you can subscribe by RSS.
In the Address bar – posts and/or comments
Top of page beside Twitter button – Posts only
In the sidebar – posts and/or comments
When I subscribe by Google it gives me two options for either iGoogle or Google Reader depending on how the blog is set up.
Nothing is ever the same from one blog theme to another and the different options that people set up. Try one of the two I’ve listed and let me know if that’s helped you and it’s not a stupid question. 🙂
Thank you for the s/o! And I love the ideas that you are sharing with everyone.
Not a problem, I like to do whatever I can to help out. I’m just afraid that with everything I’m doing I’m going to miss thanking someone.
I just hope that doesn’t happen to me. 🙂
Hiya Rose, thanks for linking me in your post! I find your advice to be really helpful, great! Keep up the blogging, I’ll follow you closely 😉
You’re welcome and Thank you. Anything to help a fellow blogger. 🙂
Thank you for more great tips Rose!
Thanks Shell. Your idea for mentioning the new blogs in our posts was great. There are more people using it every day. 🙂
Hey Rose! Me again… btw, the three cats on a sofa link takes you to “Watching NOLA Nature”
Thank you so much for letting me know. I usually check all the links before posting but I’m a little busy these days. 😉
Plus I was having some problems with the links inside the Quote box and copy/paste. It’s fixed now and I checked the link. Maybe I should check them all. 🙂
It looks like there were a few others I messed up on but they’re all fixed now. 🙂
All I can say is you amaze me. I can not keep up with the small traffic I have, much less write, read, and comment on others. I do what i can i guess. Yes, you amaze me. 😳
Hi Jaxie, I guess you haven’t read my latest post for today. You might want to read that one next. 🙂
Thanks for the tips here Rose, sorry I’ve been a bit quiet this week – just busy and am now catching up on hundreds of emails, so this post was very timely.
You’re welcome Marcia and don’t worry about it. Loved your post last night but I want to come back and read it again and comment. 🙂
