or not – Weekly Photo Challenge | Refuge

I’m sending you something besides an update to the RandomBlog2011 Challenge for a change. I like having some other fun too! There is nothing bugging me today!

I just saw Barb19‘s blog and I remembered that I had this great photo of my cat. Cinnamon will be 19 years old this July 24th and I’ve had her since the minute she was born. She was the runt of the 4 kittens in the litter.

Cinnamon's Refuge

Cinnamon loves working her way into the layers of the comforter. Once I realized this I always made sure that it was handy for her to sleep in. It used to be my daughter’s comforter when she was younger but it’s now Cinnamon’s.

Cinnamon knows she is not allowed up on the sofa unless there is another throw or blanket and when she wants up she will just sit on the floor in front of me until I notice her. As soon as the throw is on the sofa, up she jumps to snuggle up beside me. Unfortunately she has never been a lap cat and this as close as she allows me to get to her. If I try to pick her up, I risk being clawed which makes visits to the vet real fun trying to get her into the carrier.

Are you taking part in the Weekly Photo Challenge?

If you’re participating in the Photo challenge you’re welcome to leave a comment and post a link to your site.

Aha – all is revealed, my question has been answered!
Rose, this is a beautiful photo of Cinnamon, she is absolutely gorgeous with those amazing colours, and she looks very content in her “refuge”!

Thanks for allowing those of us who are participating in the Weekly Photo Challenge to post a link to our site; here is mine.

Hi Barb, I’ve already got you linked in the post, but a second one is just fine.

Cinnamon does have nice colouring doesn’t she. I hope you don’t mind that I used your idea but I just couldn’t resist posting this photo. 🙂

Great photo Rose, I’m going to struggle this week 😦 When I first read it my mind was elsewhere and my dyslexic brain thought they meant refuse – I had just the picture!

    • February 18, 2011 at 7:18 PM

Thanks PiP, I hadn’t given it much thought with everything else going on but when I saw Barb’s photo I knew I had to post this photo. 🙂

Love the pic- love her “beauty mark”! Also love the quote!

    • February 19, 2011 at 12:03 AM

Thanks Carla, she usually buries herself right in the blanket so you can’t see her. 🙂

    Cinnamon sweet!

    • February 19, 2011 at 12:05 AM

I had a thing for naming my cats after spices and herbs. There’s a story I will tell one day. 🙂

  5. February 19, 2011 at 12:21 AM

I had a dog named Cayenne. Mostly I named my babies after playwrights and movie stars.I am looking forward to the story…I too love the beauty mark! Great picture Rosemary.

Thanks Jaxie, I need to dig out some more photos first to include in the story. Everyone loves her beauty mark. 🙂

Hi Frizz, that’s a great photo for “Refuge” and I love your quote. 🙂

I can’t believe you also have a cat called Cinnamon! I suppose it’s not such a rare name, but I haven’t come across many. I used a photo of her as my PhotoAWeek last week, for curiosity. She was ginger and white, also very pretty.
I was heartbroken when I lost her last year as she had been with me for 15 years. She was my first cat. It’s funny how similar they are – she also was a sitting next to me cat 🙂 never a lap cat. She would let me pick her up, but only for about ten seconds, so I could take her to the vet, but it was a challenge. It took years to persuade her to share her tummy, but once she had been convinced, she liked frequent tummy cuddles. But only for ten minutes at a time. After ten minutes, if she wanted more, she would get up, turn around and curl up again for another ten 😀

You’ve got a great photo there. I used a photo of my first cat last week too, which was the first time I posted for the Weekly Photo Challenge.

The 10-second rule, I know it well and I still usually get scratched. Even though Cinnamon is almost 19 she still enjoys chasing her own tail and it’s hilarious. 🙂

      • February 19, 2011 at 11:25 AM

They can always make us smile 🙂
I made a post about my Cinnamon today, but it is sad 😦 but happy too as I loved her.

Aw, she’s cute and 19? Wow, that’s some age for a cat isn’t it? Great photo.

    • February 19, 2011 at 9:23 AM

Thanks Marcia, it is pretty old for a cat and she was an outdoors cat for the better of it. She used to be terrified of most people – even most of my family members. 🙂

Another random cat of kindness? Great pic.

    • February 19, 2011 at 9:28 PM

Thanks for the laugh, that would make a great caption.! Thanks for the visit. 🙂

Thanks Michelle. My youngest cat likes to get under the covers with me. 🙂

Great picture Rose. Cinnamon is so beautiful. And such a loving Mama to spoil her by throwing her quilt on the sofa when she wants to curl up there.

    • February 20, 2011 at 9:50 PM

Thanks Seashell, it was the least I could do. I’m just glad I trained her from when she was a kitten that she wasn’t allowed on the furniture. 🙂

  13. February 21, 2011 at 3:00 PM

Great picture! You must be a really great mommy to her if she is 19 years old. And, to know that you’ve had her since she was a kitten.

    • February 21, 2011 at 3:06 PM

Thanks Sondra, My daughter, who was almost 5, and I witnessed the entire birth of 4 kittens. 🙂
