or not – Weekly Photo Challenge | Home for Lunch
I don’t feel like writing much today so I’m posting another photo.
Weekly Photo Challenge | Home for Lunch
This is what my Mom’s dinner table looked like for the holidays or any big family gathering.
To the right, at the back, is the kitchen where there was another table set up.
You can read more about all the mismatched chairs at: or not – Sundays With Mom.

I’m constantly learning something by visiting blogs, and so behind. I didn’t know about the weekly photo challenge, but just happened to post a photo before coming to your blog.
Hi Thursday, aren’t you subscribed to the Daily Post? This is week 6 of the Weekly Photo Challenge. 🙂
Thank you for the mention … I love your photo – makes me feel “Home”!
No problem. It was home alright! 🙂
thanks for the mention Rose…
PS I love family gatherings such as these…can’t wait until the grandchildren arrive 🙂 This photo is a reminder 🙂
No problem PiP, you’re going to have some extra special good times once the grandchildren come along. 🙂
Wow! She must have prepared mountains of food to feed that mob!
Thanks for the link up, Rose.
No problem Nancy, she did and most of the food was all prepared by her. She would allow us to bring a dessert or maybe an extra vegetable dish but she always made sure there was enough for everybody. 🙂
Wow, I think that is the biggest setup I’ve seen for a family gathering! Must be fun but hectic to feed so many at the same time 🙂
Hi Indigo, my mom loved cooking for her family and continued to do so until the very end. 🙂
Wow Impressive. That’s what it used to be like at home with the family at christmas, parents, grandparents, nephews nieces. Fun times. How many were you catering for?
Hi Timmer, I can’t remember exactly how many this day, except to say that it was Christmas and my brother came up from Florida with his family. Usually there were anywhere from the low to high 20’s for lunches. 🙂
Hi Rose, I hope your aren’t coming down with an awful case of March Madness or Spring Fever. Thanks for the mention…BTW, I love chairs. I have my own set of mismatched favorites…
You’re welcome Jeanne, plenty of mismatched chairs but my Mom made sure she had enough matched dishes and wineglasses for everyone. 🙂
Wow – that is some set-up for lunch there Rose! I love big family gatherings – gives me a nice warm glow inside.
Hi Barb, my Mom loved it when everyone was home for the holidays, especially with all her grandchildren. We also had highchairs at times for some of them. 🙂
thanks for mentioning Rose…
Can’t wait the weekly photo challenge for this week 🙂
No problem Yori, You’ve got a great photo and I’m wondering what you’ll come up with next. 🙂
your mother must have huge dishes! and giant saucepans!
Hi Jenny, no, just the usual sizes but she has plenty of them. 🙂
How long and nice table is.
I forgot “Weekly Photo Challenge” . I’ll try soon.
Thanks Cocomino, I’m not surprised with everything you have to think about. How are things today in Japan? 🙂

Thanks for the link Rose 🙂
You’re welcome Princess. 🙂
Lovely Setting… 🙂
Thanks Elizabeth. 🙂
That’s one loooong table. Are you expecting the Walton’s family to drop in.
Hi Tony, you had my laughing on that one. Good thing I had already swallowed my coffee. 🙂
No Waltons, just the family home for Christmas. But with 8 kids, spouses, grandchildren, it is a large family. 🙂
P.S. I’ve never tried the weekly photo challenge. I will click the link & check it out.
It’s a lot of fun seeing how everyone interprets the one word WordPress gives us.
Last week’s theme was “Home” and there were some interesting photos. Check out some of the links in this post. 🙂
Thanks for the nostalgic memories…I loved our family gatherings, much like this. And kiddie tables..and now, well it’s just me…
And I’m okay with it. Most of the time, anyway.
Hi Jaxie, we had a kiddie table too! I know the feeling you’re talking about, but at least we have our memories. 🙂
Now I’m hungry! Thanks!
